How we checked: We read Samsung Food's App Store listing and website, and used Aldenté 1.23 on an iPhone. Where a Samsung Food cell says "Not in its listing," the App Store listing doesn't mention that feature.
Prices checked October 15, 2026 on each app's App Store page.
Which is better, Aldenté or Samsung Food?
Samsung Food is a strong free meal planner with a huge recipe library, and it runs everywhere. Aldenté is built for the recipes you save from social media and cook with your people. If you live on Android or plan from a laptop, pick Samsung Food. If your recipes come from TikTok and Instagram and you're on iPhone, Aldenté is the one to try.
Samsung Food used to be Whisk, and it's one of the biggest free meal planners out there: a library of over 240,000 recipes, weekly planning, shopping lists, and apps on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web. Aldenté starts somewhere else. It's built for the recipes you already found on TikTok, Instagram, and your friends' phones, and for getting those cooked.

A Meal Planner vs a Kitchen for Your Saves
Samsung Food started life as Whisk. Samsung bought it, renamed it, and kept building on the same idea: a big recipe library plus a planner and a shopping list that work together.
It's a real meal planning tool, and most of it is free. You can browse over 240,000 recipes, plan your week, and turn the plan into a shopping list.
Aldenté is built around a different moment. You saw a recipe on TikTok or Instagram, you want it saved before it disappears into your camera roll, and you want to actually cook it this week.
Saving Recipes from Social Media
Samsung Food's App Store and Google Play listings say you can save any recipe from any website, and it can turn cookbook photos and handwritten cards into recipes too. Neither listing mentions TikTok or Instagram, so if that's where your recipes come from, test it on a few of your own posts before you count on it.
Aldenté is built around the share sheet. Tap share on a TikTok, an Instagram Reel, or a recipe website, tap Aldenté, and the recipe comes through from the caption or the link. You see the whole thing before it's saved. (It doesn't read spoken audio, so a recipe that's only said out loud won't import.) Saving is unlimited on the free plan.
Community vs Friends
Samsung Food has public food communities, thousands of them, where you can follow creators and swap notes with people who cook the same things you do. If you like that kind of open, big-group feel, it's a good fit.
Aldenté has a friends feed instead. You see what the people you actually know are saving and cooking: your sister's new pasta, your roommate's Sunday curry. It's smaller on purpose, and it's free.
Meal Planning and Groceries
This is Samsung Food's home turf. The planner is free, shopping lists build from your plan, you can share lists with family, and you can order groceries from integrated retailers. Personalized weekly plans are part of Samsung Food+, and free accounts can apply a full week plan twice before it asks you to subscribe.
Aldenté's meal plan and grocery list are free too, and one invite shares both with your household. The grocery list can sync with Apple Reminders. Generating a meal plan for you is Premium, and free accounts get one plan to try.
Cooking Help
Samsung Food+ includes Smart Cooking Mode, which walks you through a recipe step by step.
Aldenté has chefs you can ask while you cook. Out of an ingredient? Not sure the chicken is done? Ask, by typing or tapping the mic. Free accounts get Sage plus one chef they pick, and Premium unlocks all seven.
The Printed Cookbook
Samsung Food doesn't print cookbooks. Aldenté does: pick the recipes you actually cook and order a real book, softcover or hardcover, shipped to you or as a gift. Learn more about printed cookbooks.
Pricing
Both apps are free to start. Samsung Food+ is $6.99/month or $59.99/year on its App Store page (checked October 16, 2026). Aldenté Premium is $7.99/month or $47.99/year with a 7-day free trial, so it costs a bit more by the month and less by the year.
Platform
Samsung Food wins here, no contest. It's on iPhone, iPad, Android, and the web, in seven languages. Aldenté is iPhone and iPad only, with no Android or web app. If you're on Android, that settles it.
